The massively surround-sound Green Electrons was performed July 30, 2010 as a part of Soundwave ((4)) in San Francisco and recorded live in the Illuminated Forest, a virtual (projected) art space at The Lab that was installed during July and August. Many thanks to those of you who were able to visit the Forest and come to the performance. Obviously the stereo reduction in this recording doesn't have the surround-sound images from July 30, but it still sounds pretty nice! Many thanks to Alan So (Artistic Director of ME'DI.ATE) who, along with other staff at Soundwave((4)) and The Lab, supported us and made the event remarkable. The July 30 recording was made by Jorge Bachmann, Technical Director for Soundwave, and mastered by Jim. We are hoping to have other surround-sound performances like this in the future!

The following day, AmbientBlack performed an extended set at Cafe Royale. Jim managed to record all of our improvisations on-site; six of the tracks are included in this album, nearly half of our pieces from that day. For a live recording (again, no overdubs!) these are rich landscapes, a bit more dense than our past efforts. Who knows what the future will bring? Stay tuned for more live performances in San Francisco and elsewhere. We're having too much fun with this.

Once again mastered at Oakstone (Huntington Beach) Studios, with some subtle contributions made by freesound.org artists dobroide, Olby, Roobrain and FreqMan. Lo-fi tracks are provided below but are also available on CD if you send us a request. Also: check out the promotional video for July 31!
